Another week, another Day in the Life post! This week’s post is from the lovely Christina from The Social Butterfly Gal.
Christina and I “met” via a Twitter chat and then quickly started following each other on Instagram and watching each other’s stories. She’s a Texas gal, so hopefully we will be able to meet in person sometime soon!
One reason I wanted to feature her was that she offers some similar services that I do. I always think it’s interesting to see how other people similar to me structure their day!

Day In The Life: Christina Ochoa from The Social Butterfly Gal
Whenever I get asked to describe what a day looks like for me, I always chuckle. No day is ever the same. If you’re just meeting me for the first time, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Christina Ochoa, founder of The Social Butterfly Gal, an event & social media strategy business. I’m based out of San Antonio, TX, but work with creatives from all over.
Creative Entrepreneurship keeps me on my toes. Somedays I finish work at 3 p.m, sometimes I’m working until 1 a.m. The upside is I get to schedule my hours- but that’s also the downside. The way I choose to work is by batching my days. I use Monday and Fridays for admin work, content creation and any other tasks I need to get done with my own business. I work with clients every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and they can schedule their sessions from 9am-6p.m. Finally, I allow myself Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 9am-11am to schedule any virtual coffee chats with creatives. Sometimes I work half a day on Saturdays depending on the occasion and I always schedule out social media on Sunday nights.
To give you an example, I’m going let you in on what a typical busy day looks like for me, which is Tuesdays and Thursdays.
My fiance’s alarm goes off which is when I wake up too. By 6:30 am I’m in the shower ready to tackle the day.
I watch a bit of “Good Morning America” to stay up-to-date with current events and also feed Maddy, my cat before I get in my car.
I don’t have an office space and while I do have a home office, I love bouncing around different coffee shops around San Antonio. My favorites are Rosella, CommonWealth Coffee, Local, and Halcyon.
Once I arrive at the coffee shop, I spend this time writing my to-do list, looking at my calendar and answering any emails I need to answer. I also update my Instagram stories and Snapchat as I LOVE to give my audience daily updates on my day-to-day tasks!
I check in with The Swarm Society ladies. The Swarm Society is my membership community! We have a Facebook group and do live master classes, meet-ups, and check-in calls. Every day around 9:15 am our daily prompts go out in the Facebook and I’m always on hand ready to comment back!
I have my first social media client session of the day! I work with creatives that are usually in their 3rd-4th year in business. I focus on enhancing their social media so they can reach their audience quicker. One of my current clients is called “Cafe Con Ellas” they’re a digital website highlighting San Antonio businesses. Lunch time! Some days I bring my lunch to the coffee shops, other days I have lunch meetings with other business owners in town or attend networking lunches. I’m part of two women business organizations in San Antonio. National Association of Women Business Owners– San Antonio Chapter & Association of Women in Communications– San Antonio Chapter. Usually, these two organizations have networking lunches once every month.
I have a check-in call with one of the members of The Swarm Society. When I launched my membership community, I wanted it to be intimate space where everyone can learn from everyone. Every month, I provide 30 min check-in calls for members. This is where they can ask me any questions they have regarding their blog/business/ social media etc. On this Tuesday, I had one with Byrdie Franco!
I have another client strategy session! One of my newest clients is a fashion boutique! Gizelle Jasso owns Blue’s Fashion Boutique. We recently started working together on creating a powerful Instagram and Facebook strategy. Just in the two weeks, we have begun working together, and she already secured a vendor spot for a local fashion event in March!
I start wrapping up for the day. I usually update The Social Butterfly Gal’s blog on Wednesdays and Fridays so on Tuesdays; I make sure all of the content is created, edited and scheduled out. I also have a YouTube channel and create content for it and the blog on Mondays. If I have some time, I will either edit my YouTube videos or go LIVE on Facebook live on The Social Butterfly Gal’s Facebook Page. I usually do mini live workshops once a week.
My fiance comes home from work, and we love to spend time cooking together. I use this time to unplug so I can spend time with him.
If there is a Twitter chat, I’m usually participating in it, and I also host one of my own for TSS. It’s #TheSwarmSocietyChat, and it happens once a month usually on the second Monday of the month at 8pm CST.
Time to go to bed!
No day is ever the same and that’s what makes entrepreneurship so much fun!
